Does Lexus Have An Electric Vehicle Yet? Lexus Goes All-In on All-Electric

With the auto industry now fully invested in transitioning to all-electric vehicles, the age of the internal combustion engine appears to be winding down.  So, if you’ve not given much thought to owning an electric vehicle, 2022 might be a good the time to start paying attention to what’s out there.  Because there’s a better-than-average chance your next new car will be battery operated to one degree or another.

By 2030—just eight years from now—fully half the available choices in every new car showroom are expected to be battery-electric (BEV’s) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV’s).   This year alone, the number of all-electric offerings from the world’s major automakers is expected to nearly quadruple, from 13 to 50.   You may have suspected as much, judging by the sheer number of ads and commercials for electric vehicles that have suddenly popped-up everywhere.

Meanwhile, Lexus fans have plenty of new electric options to look forward to, as the luxury automaker has pledged at least one BEV option in every segment in which it competes by 2030.  Moreover, it is aggressively targeting for 100% of its sales throughout the U.S., Europe, and China to come from BEVs by 2030, and the rest of the world by 2035.

Among the upcoming BEV models confirmed for Lexus are a second generation LFA-inspired supercar, an RZ crossover, a large SUV, and a sport sedan with convertible and wagon variations.

Look for the first of these, the Lexus RZ 450e crossover coupe, to reach showroom floors later this year as part of the automaker’s new lineup for 2023.
